We offer pupils more than tutors - we connect them with TLC Scholars.
Scholars are high-achieving university students who not only gained top grades to attend elite institutions, but have overcome underestimation and life adversity to acheive success. Alongside academic excellence, their journeys and stories highlight their qualities as role models and leaders - ambition, courage, determination, resilience and vision.
Scholars are therefore some of the most exceptionally talented young people in the UK - attracting individuals from all walks of life: more than 70% are from low-income backgrounds, over 50% are ethnic minorities, almost 40% attend Oxford or Cambridge - and virtually all attend a top-10 UK university.
Having walked similar paths to the students they serve, Scholars are near-peer role models who are uniquely qualified to teach, mentor, lead and inspire.
We met with four of our Scholars who share the importance of role models - and what it means for them to be a Scholar at TLC:
Chiko - Law, University College London; Trainee Solicitor at Freshfields
Ella - Politics and International Relations, Queen Mary’s University London
Ehsan - History, University College London
Dominic - Physiotherapy, University of Birmingham
Ruth - Medicine, University College London
